As Post-Punk waned a new generation of bands found themselves influenced by the scene but with little appreciation of original punk music.
Nevertheless, they continued the DIY ethic of self-releasing, all the while further encouraging a culture of fanzines and organising their own gigs.
This independent culture became known as Indie and was heavily championed by the night-time schedule on Radio 1 – especially the late, great John Peel – and the NME.
Many of the leading bands were signed by major labels and the term remains in common use.
The VotN catalogue is full of original music, collectibles and ephemera, dating back to the birth of the genré.
